DIY Bass Guitars

DIY

The bass guitar is similar to an electric guitar, but more often found with four thicker strings, and a longer neck.

At Musicandgoodshit.com, we supply a range of bass guitars for sale spanning all types and styles. From 5 string bass guitars and left-handed basses, to hollowbody, acoustic bass guitars and fretless bass guitars, you’re sure to find the bass guitar that’s right for you.

We also have a collection of cheap bass guitars, bass guitars for kids, and a number of bass kits and DIY bass guitars and accessories.

What are the best bass guitars?

The four most iconic bass guitars are probably the Fender Jazz Bass, Fender Precision Bass, Yamaha Bass and the Ibanez Bass Guitars. The Precision bass (also known as a P-bass) was the first electric bass guitar ever made and is therefore probably the most traditional. It was created by Leo Fender in 1951 and was revolutionary thanks to its deep, warm tone.

The Fender precision bass remains very popular today, though the Fender Jazz Bass comes close. Both models are the most widely recognised designs you’ll see in your local music shop.

Gibson bass guitars, meanwhile, have narrower necks than Fender-style basses, which some players prefer. Two of Gibson’s most known models, the SG and Thunderbird, tend to be particularly popular with heavy rock bands.

The Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitars are probably some of the most expensive and desirable bass guitars on the market. With very comfortable necks and a fantastic sound, these models have been made famous by iconic bands such as The Beatles, Sex Pistols, The Jam and Motorhead.

Left Handed Basses

We supply a range of left handed bass guitars from all the industry’s top names, all in one place! As well as the standard left handed bass guitars, we also stock left handed acoustic basses, electro-acoustic basses, fretless basses and hollowbody basses.

Acoustic Bass Guitars

Built with a hollow body instead of a solid body, acoustic bass guitars add a more natural projection and give volume to your bass.

Many acoustic bass guitars are also built with a pickup and preamp so they can be plugged in and amplified. This is ideal for use on stage.

5-String Basses

With one extra string, a 5 string bass guitar provides an extended lower range that is often featured in rock and metal genres. This is useful for accompanying other down-tuned instruments, as well as being popular with Jazz and Solo Bassists.

Our 5 string bass guitars include those from leading brands such as  Yamaha, Warwick, Fender, Ibanez, Hofner, Vintage and many more.

Fretless Bass Guitars

The idea of a guitar without frets may seem strange at first. But fretless bass guitars are able to provide an extra bit of magic through a slightly muted sound that comes from the absence of frets.

Playing without frets can give a skilled bass player the freedom he or she needs to get creative and expressive with their playing. Techniques like glissando, vibrato and microtonal variations will often be popular when playing a fretless bass guitar.

Bass Kits & DIY

Our bass guitar kits are a great way for beginners to get started on their bassist journey. As well as a bass guitar, our packs also include many essentials and handy accessories to help you get the most out of your playing.

Accessories included with many of our bass guitar packs include amplifiers, straps, gig bags, spare strings, leads and more.

We also supply a special range of DIY bass kits and accessories, for those looking to build their own custom bass from scratch or refurbish an old model.
